Welcome to Museum Of International MAssage – MOIMA is a digital museum dedicated to the preservation, documentation, and exploration of massage forms from across the globe. From globally recognized therapies to rare, ancestral healing traditions, we map the history and philosophy of human touch.
We also collect self-care resources for massage therapists and document the exciting opportunities for visiting professionals in international five-star hotels and resorts.
– and the Birth of a Global Museum: The idea for MOIMA was born out of a simple conversation and a surprising revelation. While traveling through Laos, our founder had the privilege of experiencing traditional Laotian massage—a distinct, deeply rooted local healing art.
Curious about how this practice connected to the wider world of Asian bodywork, we spoke to highly skilled Thai massage professionals with over 20 years of hands-on experience. We asked them what they knew about the Laotian methods. Their answer? They had never heard of it.
If masters of a neighboring, globally renowned tradition were unaware of these techniques, how many other incredible somatic arts are hidden in isolated corners of the world? How much generational knowledge remains undocumented, known only to local communities?
That realization sparked a mission: to create a global archive. MOIMA was founded to break down the borders between different schools of bodywork, ensuring that no tradition—no matter how small or localized—fades into obscurity.
